The EN-EL9 is a rechargeable 7.4V 1000mAh Lithium-ion battery for use exclusively with Nikon digital cameras such as the Nikon D3000, Nikon D40, Nikon D40x, Nikon D5000, Nikon D60. It can be recharged repeatedly using the EN-EL9 battery charger. If you want to buy this as a spare battery for your Nikon D5000 camera, as it is always recommended to have a spare. The Nikon EN-EL9 battery workes well as expected. If you are an amateur, or a serious photographer, a spare or two is always a must. I will recommend this product.
